The fruits, of variable weight depending on the variety (from 1 to 3 kg), have red or orange skin, sometimes blue gray. The orange-yellow flesh has a fine, somewhat floury texture, but with a very pleasant chestnut flavor.
Very rich in carotene, vitamins A, B, C, D, E, mineral salts and trace elements.
The fruits is consumed:
grated raw, mixed with other raw vegetables such as carrots, parsnips, etc.
steamed, in soup, mash, donut or jam.
